The next Bit n Spurs Rodeo will be held in July of 2016.

RODEO CLOWN – VAN KELLY
2013 and 2014 RMPRA BARRELMAN OF THE YEAR

Van Kelly will be performing his hilarious Rodeo Clown acts once again during the July 3rd and July 4th performances of the 70th Annual Bit n’ Spur Rodeo. Van is very excited to return to the beautiful Deseret Peak Complex and put on a great show for the best Rodeo fans in Utah!
Van hails from the thriving metropolis of Midway, Utah where he resides with his wife and “the 3 wildest young boys known to man”, says Van. He is madly in love with his wife and wants nothing more to please her. His background in rodeo is deep and muddy; he grew up a part of the rodeo circuits as he traveled all over the western states watching his father announce rodeos. He has a deep respect for the Rodeo, the stock and the contestants. He is humbled to be a small part of a great tradition. Van’s passion is RODEO and his mission is to instill that passion onto the crown. “Rodeo is my heritage and grated into my blood. Ever since I was a small child I wanted to be a great clown and make people laugh, cheer and FEEL the rodeo.” (VK).
Rodeo is the #1 sport in America and he intends to keep it that way. “I take personal responsibility that the fans, especially the children, have a chance to enjoy this great sport, to talk with the clown, give high-fives, and take pictures. I want to make sure they have an amazing experience. Rodeo is filled with gaps and I want to be the glue that fills those gaps and keeps the rodeo consistent”(VK)

RODEO HISTORY

The Bit & Spur Club has produced the 4th of July Rodeo, the highlight of Tooele County’s Independence Day Celebration for 70 consecutive years. For the past 14 years, the rodeo has been held at the beautiful Deseret Peak Complex in Tooele, UT. The 4th of July Rodeo started out as a fund raiser for the club and continues to fund our Junior Riding Club Program and other activities, including civic and charitable projects.
